Iraq Options Paper: March 8, 2002 Memo from Overseas and Defence Secretariat

Taken From

* Despite sanctions, Iraq continues to develop WMD,. although our intelligence is poor. Saddam has used WMD in the past and could do so again if his regime were threatened, though there is no greater threat now than in recent years that Saddam will use WMD; and
* Saddam’s brutal regime remains in power and destablises the Arab and wider Islamic world.
We have two options. We could toughen the existing containment policy. This would increase the pressure on Saddanm [sic]. It would not reintegrate Iraq into the international community.
The US administration has lot faith in containment and is now considering regime change. The end states could either be a Sunni strongman or a representative government.
Lets take the WMD saga. Who sold Saddam the WMD?

US Senate's committee in 1992 said in a report that Ronald Reagan and George Bush Snr, sold materials including anthrax, VX nerve gas, West Nile fever germs, germs similar to tuberculosis and pneumonia and botulism until 1992.

On top of that our UK gov sold Pralidoxine which can be reverse engineered to create nerve gas.

But there is a question??? Will chemicals last for all of until 2002?  I am no boffin.

In March 1988 Saddam gasses 5000 souls in Kurdish Halabja. the trans-shipment of these did not stop.

This assistance, according to the report, included 'chemical warfare-agent precursors, chemical warfare-agent production facility plans and technical drawings, chemical warfare filling equipment, biological warfare-related materials, missile fabrication equipment and missile system guidance equipment'.

* Saddam’s brutal regime remains in power and destablises the Arab and wider Islamic world.

Well we made Middle East  more stable after taking Saddam, Gadaffi etc etc etc etc ...ha ha.

The Truth About US Troops “Sent to Iraq”

Blimey this seems to be reasonable article. But my view, hmmm rather silly really...is this.

ISIS was attacking Syrian government and the NATO and the rest by populous demand could to support the Sunnis. The armament supply dried out for them. If they let ISIS take over the Sunni areas in North Iraq where there is lot of AMerican made armament to loot and use against the Syrians. am i going looney?

Syria Chemical attacks

I blogged about this in my blog in:

here

There is more to it now. It has been established with more evidence that the attacks carried out by rebel fighters in Eastern Ghouta, and it is  alleged that Saudi Intelligence Chief, Prince Bandar Bin Sultan, had supplied extremist elements in the  region with chemical weapons.

Well you and me will find why all these intelligence agencies are trying to bury this information by attacking the media and the journalists. Is there more to this incidence than what was already being reported.

Read all about it

Iraq war revisited

I thought I have to write this after reading an article about the Iraq war and how various governments in both sides of the Atlantic tried to white wash  suppressing of the incredible intelligence; to promote the war.

In March 2009 I wrote a blog about the intelligence made at the time of preparation to go to war was false in my blog:

http://always-myown.blogspot.co.uk/2009/03/intelligence-made-it-clear-saddam-was.html

On 27th june 2009 I blogged about a secret memo about the meeting between then  president of US and PM of UK written by Foreign policy advisor to Blair, David manning. read in my blog:

http://always-myown.blogspot.co.uk/2009/06/iraq-memo-bush-blair-wmds.html

Remarkable coincidence in 12th january 2010 it was reparted that netherlands cooperated with the war illegally after an unbiased inquiry. It was reported by BBC in:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8453305.stm#startcontent

On 8th july 2009 I wrote in my blog about Dr. Kelly, weapons inspector in Iraq. He knew that Iraq did not have chemical weapons and he was asked to leave the country while the investigations were ongoing. He was going to write his memoirs before he was unlawfully killed. Read about this in my blogs:
http://always-myown.blogspot.co.uk/2009/07/david-kelly.html

and

http://always-myown.blogspot.co.uk/2009/07/dr-david-kellys-death.html

Now the similarity of Syrian civil war and Iraq war is clearly the same. But at the time of this blog we in the West has not gone and put our bloody boots in the soverign state of Syria. But check the similarities in this blog:

Here

Last week a little more was learned as to the circumventions in Whitehall and Washington delaying the publication of the findings of Sir John Chilcot’s marathon Inquiry in to the background of the Iraq invasion.

The UK’s Chilcot Inquiry, was convened under then Prime Minister Gordon Brown, to establish the decisions taken by the UK government and military, pre and post invasion. It ran from 24th November 2009 until 2nd February 2011 and cost an estimated £7.5 million. The as yet unpublished Report is believed to run to 1000,000 words.

The stumbling block – more of an Israeli-style “separation barrier” in reality – has been the correspondence between Tony Blair and George W. Bush, prior to an invasion and occupation, which former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan finally told the BBC was: “illegal” and that: “painful lessons” had been learned. (BBC 16th September 2004.) “Lessons” clearly not learned by the current British government.

The communications, in Sir John Chilcot’s words to former Cabinet Secretary Lord O’Donnell related to: “The question when and how the Prime Minister (Tony Blair) made commitments to the US about the UK’s involvement in military action in Iraq, and subsequent decisions on the UK’s continuing involvement, is central to its considerations.”(Guardian 17th July 2013.)

Further: “Chilcot said the release of notes of the conversations between Blair and Bush would serve to ‘illuminate Mr Blair’s position at critical points’ in the run up to war.”

Libya After 2 years

More than two years on since the “revolution” of Feb. 2011, the security crisis is exacerbating by the day threatening Libya with an implosion charged with potential realistic risks to the geopolitical unity of the Arab north African country, turning this crisis into a national existential one. Obviously the status quo is unsustainable.

Yes it is another mess. Our boys and girls with the US  girls ....lol...have made a good mess better than previous. Gaddafi kept that country going though he had some mad things which was not properly understood by the West. He killed the terrorists and the Western media said he is mad. He tortured terrorists captured by US and UK and then later handed over to him. That carried headlines in our media without the bit about who captured them and handed over to Gaddafi. Gaddafi had a very good benefit system and educational system admired by many Libian. Of course he was a clansman. We in UK has similar when you look at the ruling elite. US hmmm I am not sure about that as I do not live there. You decide.

Now here is the conclusion in the article I am reading.

Yet Libyans seem determined to miss “this opportunity.” “Revolutionary” Libya, reminiscent of the U.S. – engineered “democratic” Iraq after some ten years of the U.S. invasion, is still unable to offer basic services to its citizens. Real unemployment is estimated at over 30%. Economy has stalled and frustration is growing. Gone are the welfare days of Gaddafi’s state when young families could get a house with benefits for free, people’s medication and treatment were paid by the state and free education made available to everyone. About one million supporters of the Gaddafi regime remain internally displaced; hundreds of thousands more fled for their lives abroad.
Remnants of the destroyed institutional infrastructure of law, order and security is hardly capable of protecting the symbolic central government in Tripoli , reminiscent of its Iraqi counterpart, which is still besieged in the so-called “Green Zone” in Baghdad . Late last October Libya ’s central bank was robbed of $55m in a broad daylight robbery. More than one hundred senior military and police commanders were assassinated.

And finally how US plans went to the rubbish heap of the Middle East:

Pentagon’s Plans No Help
Short of western “boots on the ground” it is doubtful that Zeidan’s government will survive. The U.S. administration of President Barak Obama was repeatedly on record against any U.S. boots on the ground in the Middle East . With the exception of France , which might be ready for the appropriate price to repeat its recent limited and temporary military intervention in Mali , Europe seems against it too.
Zeidan, with less than three months remaining for him in office, seems relying on Pentagon’s plans to arm and train, through “AFRICOM,” a new Libyan army called “a general purpose force.”
But “the case of a separate and underreported U.S. effort to train a small Libyan counterterrorism unit inside Libya earlier this year is instructive,” Frederic Wehrey wrote recently in Foreign Affairs, adding: The absence of clear lines of authority — nearly inevitable given Libya’s fragmented security sector — meant that the force’s capabilities could just have easily ended up being used against political enemies as against terrorists. In August militias launched a pre-dawn raid on the training camp which was not well-guarded. There were no U.S. soldiers at the camp, but the militia took a great deal of U.S. military equipment from the site, some of it sensitive. The U.S. decided to abort the program and the U.S. forces supposedly went home.
The obvious alternative to Zeidan’s western supported government would be a stateless society governed by militia warlords, while the survival of his government promises more of the same.
At the official end of the NATO war for the regime change in Libya on Oct. 31, 2011 U.S. President Obama proclaimed from the White House Rose Garden that this event signaled the advent of “a new and democratic Libya,” but more than two years later Libya is recurring to the pre-Gaddafi old undemocratic tribal and ethnic rivalries with the added value of the exclusionist terrorist religious fundamentalism wearing the mantle of Islamist Jihad.
In the wake of late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s death on October 20, a Saudi Arabian Arab News’ editorial said: “The point about Qaddafi’s death is that it makes the next transition stage that much easier, that much safer. As long as he remained at large, he would have been in a position to destabilize the country.”
More than two years after Gaddafi’s death, Libya is more destabilized, insecure and fractured that its future is now questionable enough not to vindicate the Saudi daily’s prediction.

Home grown terrorism in US

Former CENTCOM Commander, General Tommy Franks, who led the invasion of Iraq in 2003, had outlined a scenario of what he described as “a massive casualty producing event” on American soil, (a Second 9/11) . Implied in General Franks statement was the notion and belief that civilian deaths were necessary to raise awareness and muster public support for the “global war on terrorism”.
“[A] terrorist, massive, casualty-producing event [will occur] somewhere in the Western world – it may be in the United States of America – that causes our population to question our own Constitution and to begin to militarize our country in order to avoid a repeat of another mass, casualty-producing event.” (General Tommy Franks Interview, Cigar Aficionado, December 2003, emphasis added)
While the Boston bombings are of an entirely different nature to the “catastrophic event” alluded to by General Tommy Franks, the administration appears, nonetheless, to be committed to the logic of “militarizing our country” as a means to “protecting democracy.”
The Boston events are already being used to galvanize public support for an extended domestic based counter-terrorism apparatus. The latter would be implemented alongside extrajudicial assassinations against so-called “homegrown self radicalized terrorists”:

Psychiatry, Political Abuse?

From our history as a human kind, we have been mislead by many politicians, religious leaders and media (newspapers, tv, radio and books)

How do I know? I read a lot of articles ha ha hee hee.

I have no problem with my mental state except when I get angry. so don't! There seems to be quite a few people who suffer from mental illness in UK according to the boffins.

The facts and figures around Mental Health in the UK are alarming.

•1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year
•Mixed anxiety and depression is the most common mental disorder in Britain
•Women are more likely to have been treated for a mental health problem than men
•About 10% of children have a mental health problem at any one time
•Depression affects 1 in 5 older people
•Suicides rates show that British men are three times as likely to die by suicide than British women
•Self-harm statistics for the UK show one of the highest rates in Europe: 400 per 100,000 population
•Only 1 in 10 prisoners has no mental disorder

Now lets take them one by one.
1 in 4 have mental problems in the last year. Hurray I am not one of them.
Anxiety and depression is an on going mental problem for me. Just before I try to chat up a bird I have anxiety. When I get the thumbs down from her I feel depressed. So I have a problem.
 I am male.
So when I concider these I must be either sufferer or not.

In US it is similar but there are more names for these disorders in the mental capacity.

So in the past history of human kind we have seen psychiatry and politics go hand in hand. And I wrote this in my other blogsphere.

Drones Are Here To Stay And Kill

We are in the 21st century and we are getting better at killing more and more people. Now we do not need human beings to be in the front line. We are proud to present the drones. The killing of innocent civilians are just collateral damage. Now I present to you a very well researched article about US action in Pakistan.

After nine months of research and more than 130 interviews, in what is being called one of the most exhaustive attempts by academics to evaluate Washington’s drone wars, the Stanford and New York universities’ law schools have finally put out a damning report.
According to the new study, just one in fifty victims of the CIA program of “targeted” drone strikes in Pakistan’s tribal areas are known militants, while between 2,562 and 3,325 people were killed in Pakistan between June 2004 and mid-September this year – of whom between 474 and 881 were civilians, including 176 children.
Based on these and other figures, the report calls the strikes politically counterproductive and damaging, concluding they have killed innocent civilians, ruined the local economy, undermined respect for international law and left the people of the tribal areas psychologically battered, constantly living under the daily threat of annihilation from the air.
The report especially focuses on children becoming collateral damage of strikes, and comes down particularly hard on the common tactic of the “double-tap” strike where initial strikes are followed up by further missiles, killing an even greater number of civilians, and putting fear into the hearts of rescuers who often wait for hours before daring to visit the scene of an attack.

You can read all the article here.

Now we in the free world has a new toy called the Sea Drone. it is an underwater toy which responses to a computer in a far far away land. Are you getting excited now. I tell you this one costs a lot of money. If you want to buy one you can always contact this place: The Naval Undersea Warfare Center. Here it is:

Nice init?

The US Navy is currently experimenting with a new breed of drone submarines in the waters next to Newport, Rhode Island. Their hope is that these drones will take the first steps (or the first doggy paddle, if you will) into a future of autonomous submarines.
These drones, which are technically known as Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (of course) could be a “game changer” for the Navy, said Christoper Egan, a program manager at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center. Every single thing that makes aerial drones so effective can just as easily be applied to submarines.
One of the biggest advantages is size — if you have a pilot in a submarine, then you automatically have a minimum size requirement. You need a control system, air, and a supply of food and water if you expect the submarine to remain submerged for days at a time. Once you remove a person from a submarine, you can shrink the submersible down to the size of, say, an adult tuna or a torpedo. That makes for more efficient, stealthier submarines that cost only a fraction of the cost of a conventional one-man submersible.
These drones could be used to map the ocean floor, detect enemy mines, gather surveillance, or assist in anti-submarine warfare. For example, one clever little drone is the Razor, which uses stealthy, flipper-like devices to drift through the ocean, kind of like a sea turtle. The Navy hopes that the Razor would be virtually undetectable by enemy systems.
I plucked above from this article.

So as stated it is for peaceful work for us humans as well as the oceans. Oceanographers are clapping their hands and shouting"Bravo". But we war like people do not stop there. They state in the article something called the Razor. That cannot be detected by the enemy. May be they are thinking about sharks and big whales. No my friend there is more to it than that. We introduce to you The Large Displacement Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (LDUUV).

The LDUUV will have a large payload bay, making it capable of releasing sensors, communication buoys, smaller UUS and weapons. The Navy's current emphasis is on persistent surveillance “over the horizon.” However, its most significant impact could be in mine warfare, both offensive and defensive.
In the counter-mine role, the LDUUV will be able to detect and locate mines, then engage and neutralize them safely. And the LDUUV could make offensive mine laying more controllable and clandestine. In the transformational mine concept, the LDUUV lays networked sensors across a wide area. These track and identify every vessel within range. Depending on the situation, any vessel can be engaged, by either an anchored weapon or a torpedo from the UUV itself. The advantage of using an LDUUV is that the minefield can be switched on or off, or changed in size. It can be emplaced in advance, and never activated. De-mining and clear-up do not pose the major problem that they do with traditional mines.
The Navy plans to release a request for proposals for the LDUUV in 2014. Last October Rear Adm. Barry Bruner, the Navy's undersea warfare director, indicated that up to 10 LDUUVs would be procured. The LDUUV is being pitched as a helper to complement manned submarines. However, if it achieves the technology goals for endurance and autonomy, it will pose serious questions of what exactly large unmanned craft could not ultimately do.

I pay respect to this article

Here is a map of the seas around Middle East.

Straight of Hormuz is a narrow shipping lane, just 34 k wide at the narrowest point. each side of authority has 3 k and a buffer zone of 3k. Iran has laid mines in the area and in 1988, one of which injured 10 when it blew a hole in the guided missile frigate USS Samuel B. Robert. So last month (September 2012)there was a big Naval Exercise in the seas around Iran.

The admiral in charge of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet on Thursday defended the large American-led naval exercises in the Persian Gulf and other strategic Mideast waterways as a way to ensure stability and security in the region, rebutting Iran’s concerns about what it sees as foreign military meddling.
More than 30 countries are involved in the anti-mine exercises. Although the Navy says the maneuvers are purely defensive and not directed at any country, they are widely seen as a message to Iranian officials who have threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of the Gulf.

Yes I found these article, one, two

Then we connect the dots from far far above this blog about the underwater drones.

The USS Ponce is to serve as a “staging and command post for mine hunting operations”.  USS Ponce (See above) is also carrying an “underwater drone” .  “The BAE Systems Plc (BA/) 25mm guided ‘‘Mark 38 Mod 2,” and Kingfish unmanned underwater vehicle are among the programs the Pentagon this year accelerated under a “Fast Lane” initiative to counter Iranian naval weapons. One of the most serious threats, the Navy says, are Iranian speedboats that can employ “swarming” tactics.” (Bloomberg, September 19, 2012)
There are questions about all this when we read this bit in that article.

These war games serve essentially two related purposes.
1. To threaten and intimidate Iran with a massive display of military might.
2. To deliberately create conditions within proximity of Iran’s territorial waters, which could lead to a Gulf of Tonkin type incident. The latter would involve military provocation conducive to confrontation and/or response by Iran.  This incident, would in turn provide a justification for attacking Iran on the grounds of self-defense.
The unspoken objective of warship diplomacy is to trigger an all out war. The objective is to portray Iran as the aggressor, as a threat to peace and security. Already insinuations abound in the Western media  to the effect that Iran may attempt to “draw the Americans into a conflict”. Confrontation in the Strait of Hormuz is part of the simulations and scenarios contemplated by US and allied military planners:

“Western leaders are convinced that Iran will retaliate to any attack by attempting to mine or blockade the shipping lane through which passes around 18 million barrels of oil every day, approximately 35 per cent of the world’s oil traded by sea.” (Ibid )

I am not trying to scare people but it would be wise for all to consider not having any arms for attacking other countries. Ah yes we can always have some arms for defense, yes?

Sept 11th Is 'ere Again; Shall We Kill Its Ugly 'ead for Good?

So here we are on the day of the worst incident on US soil. Who are the perpetrators and why is a very strong debate amongst many. At the same time, brings sad memories for the relatives of the people who died and injured. I do not know why, but as uncomfortable it can be I like to write some to bring inaccuracies of the reported account.

First I like to bring the account of the planned defence of US by it's defence program and why it failed badly.

Let us take Mr Rumsfeld's eerie predictions shall we? The day before this on the 10th Sept Mr Rumsfeld admitted to the press that over 3 trillion dollars are missing from the Pentagon funds.

More money for the Pentagon, CBS News Correspondent Vince Gonzales reports, while its own auditors admit the military cannot account for 25 percent of what it spends.

"According to some estimates we cannot track $2.3 trillion in transactions," Rumsfeld admitted.

$2.3 trillion — that's $8,000 for every man, woman and child in America. To understand how the Pentagon can lose track of trillions, consider the case of one military accountant who tried to find out what happened to a mere $300 million.

"We know it's gone. But we don't know what they spent it on," said Jim Minnery, Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

Minnery, a former Marine turned whistle-blower, is risking his job by speaking out for the first time about the millions he noticed were missing from one defense agency's balance sheets. Minnery tried to follow the money trail, even crisscrossing the country looking for records.

"The director looked at me and said 'Why do you care about this stuff?' It took me aback, you know? My supervisor asking me why I care about doing a good job," said Minnery.

He was reassigned and says officials then covered up the problem by just writing it off.

"They have to cover it up," he said. "That's where the corruption comes in. They have to cover up the fact that they can't do the job."

The Pentagon's Inspector General "partially substantiated" several of Minnery's allegations but could not prove officials tried "to manipulate the financial statements."

Twenty years ago, Department of Defense Analyst Franklin C. Spinney made headlines exposing what he calls the "accounting games." He's still there, and although he does not speak for the Pentagon, he believes the problem has gotten worse.

"Those numbers are pie in the sky. The books are cooked routinely year after year," he said.

Another critic of Pentagon waste, Retired Vice Admiral Jack Shanahan, commanded the Navy's 2nd Fleet the first time Donald Rumsfeld served as Defense Secretary, in 1976.

In his opinion, "With good financial oversight we could find $48 billion in loose change in that building, without having to hit the taxpayers."

From CBS Evening News.

And we know that Flight 77, allegedly piloted by an incompetent, made an aerobatic, spiralling descent over Washington, effecting a 270-degree turn to strike the Pentagon from a western approach at ground level. The side struck was the only one with an exterior wall hardened against attack, and was relatively empty while renovation continued.

From The Pittsburg Post Gazette, December 20, 2001: "One Army office in the Pentagon lost 34 of its 65 employees in the attack. Most of those killed in the office, called Resource Services Washington, were civilian accountants, bookkeepers and budget analysts. They were at their desks when American Airlines Flight 77 struck."

The Arlington County After-Action Report noted that the "impact area included both the Navy operations center and the office complex of the National Guard and Army Reserve. It was also the end of the fiscal year and important budget information was in the damaged area." And Insight Magazine editorialized that "the Department of the Army, headed by former Enron executive Thomas White, had an excuse [for not making a full accounting]. In a shocking appeal to sentiment it says it didn't publish a "stand-alone" financial statement for 2001 because of "the loss of financial-management personnel sustained during the Sept. 11 terrorist attack."

How much of this is true no one will know for atleast 100 years. Even then they will stay buried for the good of the nation. Ha! But for theory of conspiracy this is high lark. If you like to see the whole article go here please.

This 2.6 trillion did not happen on the 10th Sept 2001. It has been debated right through 2000 to 2001. Lets see what was said and when. On February 12, 2001;   "How much does it take to run the U.S. military? Gwen Ifill discusses military spending with four experts."

JOHN ISAACS........... There's still huge accounting problems in the Pentagon. They don't even know how much money they have or are spending. The inspector general of the Pentagon said there are 2.3 trillion dollars in items that they can't quite account for. That's not billion. That's trillion dollars. $2.3 trillion -- and the General Accounting Office said there are about $27 billion in inventory items that they can't find. It's not a matter of money -- if the review just results war money put into the pentagon we'll be going in the wrong direction. It's time to move back.

According to 2001 predicted defence budget the total is $ 305,421 million. So to get to 2,3 trillion it must have gone for years before, and that means Clinton era and before. The fact is; that was very unfortunate that the announcement by Rumsfeld came the day before. Then comes another fact: the Pentagon had all the secrets and was destroyed files, computers and most precious the people who accounted for the Gov. I have not come across this before. Most probably this was buried for a few years.

More War Crimes, Now In Syria

I already pointed out that Libyan al Qaeda members are in Turkey, here. And a few other notable blood thirsty character from Libya has moved to Syrian border. That you can read here.

So when I heard about the killing of Syrian officials by the 'Free Syrian Army' last week I am not surprised, but the war mongering Foreign Secretary of not so great Britain and vice president of US are very happy indeed. Champoo time. Non of the Western media put this one in the TV programs of news. But the peace making Russians did. Here is the clip.

I am still shaking after seeing this video for the third time. I live in a peaceful country and I think most of the readers as well. Why do our blood thirsty politicians support these criminals.

This article ends with this.

Such extra-judicial killings might be a sign of things to come if the 17-month uprising against President Bashar AL-Assad spins further out of control.

Asia Times Online correspondent Pepe Escobar told RT that such massacres occur “all the time” in today's Syria.  He believes, however, that summary executions of this nature will push minorities to fight against the rebels.

“I received this video from a source in Arabic, and then I asked for a translation. This is a very important clan in Northern Aleppo.  Some of them were executed in cold blood, this is what this two and a half minute video shows. This is an extended clan. They have like 20,000 brothers, sisters and extended family in this tribal clan,” Escobar said.

“So this means that all of these people, instead of being recruited to the opposition, now they will fight the opposition because they are being executed in cold blood. This explains, among other things, why Christians all over Syria are taking up arms to defend themselves. Because they know if there is a post-Assad controlled [government] by Sunni hardcore elements, including Salafi Jihadists, they are going to be unprotected minorities. At the moment they are protected minorities under the Assad regime," he continued.

You can read the original here.

Expert Advice From Brookings Inc

This is called "Saving Syria: Assessing Options for Regime Change" by Daniel Byman, Michael
Doran, Kenneth Pollack, and Salman Shaikh.

The article starts with the following:

Syria is trapped on a crumbling precipice, and how ever it might fall will entail significant risks for the United States and for the Syrian people.
Why I wonder these boffins think that anyone outside US is a blloody terrorist. Specially the muslims. I know Assad is no angel, but the intel systems in the West is sophisticated enough to see that their borders and within are safe. Ach Don't talk about Sept 11th etc. That was Bush Cheyney 'Pearl Harbour' episode. 50 or years later you will find out, if I am lucky I might as well about what really happened to Twin Towers.

This memo lays out six options for the United States to consider to achieve Asad’s overthrow, should it choose to do so:

  1. Removing the regime via diplomacy;
  2. Coercing the regime via sanctions and diplomatic isolation;
  3. Arming the Syrian opposition to overthrow the regime;
  4. Engaging in a Libya-like air campaign to help an opposition army gain victory;
  5. Invading Syria with U.S.-led forces and toppling the regime directly; and
  6. Participating in a multilateral, NATO-led effort to oust Asad and rebuild Syria.
Yeah I like you to visit this website to read it all.

Now we go back 55 years ago in 1957 to see what British Prime minister Hon H Macmillan and President D Eisonhower planned an attack on Syria. Historians have known that there was a plan but there were no proper documents describing them. You see, Duncan Sandys, Mr Macmillan's defence secretary, kept notes, and they were discovered, may be after 50 year secrecy law-time has passed by, Matthew Jones, a reader in international history at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Part of the "preferred plan" reads: "In order to facilitate the action of liberative forces, reduce the capabilities of the Syrian regime to organise and direct its military actions, to hold losses and destruction to a minimum, and to bring about desired results in the shortest possible time, a special effort should be made to eliminate certain key individuals. Their removal should be accomplished early in the course of the uprising and intervention and in the light of circumstances existing at the time."
The document, approved by London and Washington, named three men: Abd al-Hamid Sarraj, head of Syrian military intelligence; Afif al-Bizri, chief of the Syrian general staff; and Khalid Bakdash, leader of the Syrian Communist party.
Well even a ten year old can see the similatrities init? Hmmm I wonder how many ten year old's read this blog. LOL. This historical article was pointed by Global Research, but the real article was printed in Guardian news paper during the Iraq war.

What The People Said About Syria (added)

These articles I site here are from the Global Research E-newsletter and others. So I am going back to November of last year (2011).

Yes I remember the "Arab Spring"  concocted by the media and I was really interested in this. Conspiracy theories were rampant those days and it was very difficult to decipher the facts from the rest of the garbage. So I collected some articles in my Gmail account. This article starts like this:

The name "Arab Spring" is a catch phrase concocted in distant offices in Washington, London, Paris, and Brussels by individuals and groups who, other than having some superficial knowledge of the region, know very little about the Arabs. What is unfolding amongst the Arab peoples is naturally a mixed package. Insurgency is part of this package as is opportunism. Where there is revolution, there is always counter-revolution.

The upheavals in the Arab World are not an Arab "awakening" either; such a term implies that the Arabs have always been sleeping while dictatorship and injustice has been surrounding them. In reality the Arab World, which is part of the broader Turko-Arabo-Iranic World, has been filled with frequent revolts that have been put down by the Arab dictators in coordination with countries like the United States, Britain, and France. It has been the interference of these powers that has always acted as a counter-balance to democracy and it will continue to do so.

Before I read this I have seen some articles about the "21st century US of A".  But them were just books. If I believed all of them I will still be believing that atom is  the smallest particle in universe. The teachers never said, that, this information is only at the present moment as we cannot see inside the atom. Damn here I go off track. Do forgive me. to be more enlightened read the rest here.

In Oct 2011 I read an article about what happened in the past. How US, UK and Europe manhandled Latin America to submission. Latin America became enslaved in policies of US, UK and  Europian countries and you and me know what happened. Countries like Venezuela ultimately got rid of the terrorists like World Bank etc.

The image of Latin America portrayed by the mass media and held by the educated public is a region of frequent coups, periodical revolutions, perpetual military dictatorships, alternating boom and bust economies and an ever-present International Monetary Fund (IMF) dictating economic policy.

In contrast the same opinion makers plus their academic counterparts project images of the United States and the European Union as stable societies, with steady economic growth, incremental expansion of social welfare programs, resolving issues via consensual compromises and practicing sound fiscal policies.

In recent times, the better part of the current decade, these images have taken on the character of ideological dogmas – they no longer correspond to reality. In fact a good argument can be made that the roles have been reversed: the US and EU are in perpetual crises and Latin America, at least most of the major countries, have experienced stability and growth which is the envy (or should be) of Washington pundits and financial commentators. This ‘role reversal’ has been recognized by many US, EU and Asian investors and multinationals, even as respectable journalistic hacks for the Financial Times, NY Times and Wall Street Journal still write about vulnerabilities, imbalances and other weaknesses while grudgingly acknowledging the dynamic growth of the region.

Progressive opinion is equally at fault, focusing on the ‘advances’ of the left regimes but overlooking the underlying dynamics affecting most of the region and thus losing sight of the new points of conflict and contention.

We will proceed to outline the contrasting realities between the crises ridden “North” (US/EU) and the sustained growth of the “South” (South America). The analysis will raise questions of whether the South American experience is transferable to the North and what ‘structural adjustments' would be necessary to pull the US and EU out of the downward spiral of stagnation and violent conflicts which have characterized these regions for the better part of the past decade.
This is a very nicely, unbiasely research gem. please go here to get the best of it. I will add on the rest as I get time.(Cor Blimey said me donkey to the wise man...I managed to get the dxxxxx "Quote" to work salute)

I don't know how much this story has anything to do with the war. But this happened just after the US elections and Obaba went to turkey and addressed the parliament in Turkey. This is reported from Jerusalam, and could be a bit of mud flingimg. Do not forget to see the words like 'allegedly' is thrown in for good measure.

A Syrian national was arrested in connection with a plot to assassinate President Obama during a key speech he is set to deliver tomorrow, a Saudi newspaper claimed today.

The newspaper, al-Watan, reported Turkish security services arrested a Turkish resident of Syrian origins Friday who confessed to a plot to stab the U.S. president with a knife during his speech tomorrow to the U.N.'s Alliance of Civilizations summit in Istanbul. The man allegedly told  interrogators he was working with at least three other people to execute his assassination attempt.

Dalai Lama, Mao And Me

As a generation born in 60's I remember my hippy father and mother debating heavily on the subject of China in Tibet. I grew up thinking that Dalai Lama and Tibet to be the down trodden and weak, and supported many petitions, demonstrations against the Chinese gov.

Little did I know that dalai Lama in his younger days was a Communist. Even Wiki page does not say anything about, Dalai Lama being a Maoist Communist. Now Dalai Lama is saying that, "I am a Maoist, and Mao treated me as a son." Need I say more? Is this a new trick by the holy man to become the new friend of China and slowly get independance? High politics is not for the meer mortals. If it is: it would be called another conspiracy theory.

Now how do I know this. Listen to this. And I searched a bit and found out a bit more of this new saga in Chinese politics.

This is from the Asia Times . You might have to mute your sound as there is advetrts which can not be stopped and gets on one's nerves.

The Dalai Lama said he was "attracted by some aspects of Communism," adding that Marxist theory had an "emphasis on equal distribution."

"When I was in China, I learnt Marxist economy theory, which has an emphasis on equal distribution, rather than just profit. Since we human beings created this (economic) problem, we also have the ability to overcome it. In spite of our difficulties, we should not give up our hope...we must keep our self confidence, that is very important," the Dalai Lama said.
Utube video makes further alligations about the two with the CIA mixed in. According to this, Dalai Lama's Maoist views were considered to be not in line with the Tibetan rebels, against Chinese occupation. These rebels we all know were supported by the US via CIA and later dropped when US started the trade agreements with China.

If you are ready for a bit of confusion; read this and you might be, just like me, wondering where politics ends and politcs begins again. Reincarnation or what? There are few links on that page to see what the freedom fighters think about this. CIA connections. Ahhh! that's another conspiracy theory.

Yo North Americans, Do You Want To Get Depressed

Yeah I read this article and thought. Huh huh I am glad I am not in US. But you my delightful reader of this might like it. And please do forgive me, I said it might depress you. Well it starts like this:

Ever since the beginning of the financial crisis and Quantitative Easing, the question has been before us: How can the Federal Reserve maintain zero interest rates for banks and negative real interest rates for savers and bond holders when the US government is adding $1.5 trillion to the national debt every year via its budget deficits? Not long ago the Fed announced that it was going to continue this policy for another 2 or 3 years. Indeed, the Fed is locked into the policy. Without the artificially low interest rates, the debt service on the national debt would be so large that it would raise questions about the US Treasury’s credit rating and the viability of the dollar, and the trillions of dollars in Interest Rate Swaps and other derivatives would come unglued.
Do you really want to read it huh?  OK here is the link.

Is This Majority's Thinking In US?

“Don't waste any more time or energy on the presidential election than it takes to get to your polling station and pull a lever for a third-party candidate-—just enough to register your obstruction and defiance—and then get back out onto the street. That is where the question of real power is being decided.” Chris Hedges, May 2012

As I am not very first hand in the life of US I have to read second hand thoughts, and I likes 'em. Here is a bucketload of them, check it out if you dare!

Disinformation On Every Front‏

This is a informative article by Paul Roberts in the Global Research website.
Some readers have come to the erroneous conclusion that the Matrix consists of Republican Party disinformation as if there is no disinformation from the left. Others think that propaganda is the business of Obama and the Democrats. In fact, propaganda from the right, the left and the middle are all part of the disinformation fed to americans.
Only matrix I knew  is the fantastic film of the same name. I have watched all the films few times and enjoyed. But this Matrix is different. Read this for a bit of education into the Governments in the West, huh "democratic".

The people in charge of the Matrix represent the most powerful and intelligenthumans on earth. When gifted children appear in the public schools of the world, they are courted with scholarships, money and eventually memberships into secret societies. They will be introduced to very persuasive intellectuals, who willconvince these young gifted people that it is their place and duty to be a part of the elite who rule the world’s population because the rest of the world’spopulation is too stupid to make decisions for themselves (their comment - notmine). When the “New World Order” is officially and openly in control, only the extremely intelligent will be allowed to propagate.
So that is what the 1% super richblaggers have been doing for the last few hundred years. I know the system in UK is a facade, but there is not much facts available in the net. And then the anonymous authour says:

THE motive of our Founding Fathers was totally self-centered. It was their personal greed that inspired them to accept the task of writing the Constitution of the United States and not patriotism. In actuality, the United States is not a landor a place: ‘It is a corporation, a legal fiction that existed well before theRevolutionary War.’ [See: Republica v. Sween, 1 Dallas 43 and 28 U. S. C. 3002(15)].The Constitution of the United States was written in secret by the Founding Fathers and was never presented to the Colonists for a vote. Surely, any document as important as this demanded the approval of the people it governed!Well, it wasn’t presented for a vote because the Constitution wasn't created for"We the People;" it was created  by  and   for  the    Founding Fathers, their family, heirs and their posterity.

The Constitution is a business plan and any referencecontained within it that appears to be the safeguard of a ‘Right’ is there because none of the Founding Fathers trusted  each  other. The safeguards  were intended  to prevent any one or group of them from cutting out the others, proving that “There’s no honor among thieves.” Americans are not unlike  all other humans who inhabit the earth. All human beings possess malleable minds, which are minds that can be shaped and controlled; and when government shapes and controls a mind, it’s called “brainwashing.” Brainwashing causes the subject to become ‘functionally illiterate.’

In America, our functional ignorance excels in the areas of history, government  and  law, which  really  are one  and  the  same. Ninety-eight   percent of the officials in public office are lawyers and these so-called representatives set policy and create the laws that govern  this society. Their use of  Greek and Latin terms in law and the habit of changing definitions and usage of common words is intentional. The intent is to confound and confuse the general public and to hide the treason they are implementing and so that members of the public are forced (or decide) to hire a lawyer out of frustration, rather than try to represent themselves in  our ‘fictional courts of law.’ As you read on I’ll explain to you why and how, our courts and laws are fictional.
This is another problem I have encountered. The religious books were written in Greek and Latin, so a select few could understand them. The others like you and me had to listen to these 'educated' bofins to believe in the rel;igion. Never mind what religion it is they are the same. Similar tactics are used in education. Take Mathematics for example, you get so much jargon, that by the time you have managed the first few yaers in school, you want to get the hell out of the place. I bin there m8.

One thing the Founding Fathers did not know, was that all of the King’s lands and all future acquisitions such as the AMERICAS, had been given and pledged by King John to Pope Innocent III and the Holy Roman Church by the Treaty of 1213.
O no. US is owned by the Vatican and rented out to the government of US, which is Federal Corporation. check this and you can see what I am reffering to. There is no escape we all are still SLAVES. Blimey bossman.

In the true History of America, neither side WON the Revolutionary War. At first, the appearance of English troops in the Colonies was simply a show of force by King George, intended to intimidate the Colonists and force them to pay him taxes. Factually, back in England, English soldiers refused to take up arms against the Colonists because they were English citizens and relatives.
Mr. Mayer Amschel Bauer, founder of the Rothschild Banking Empire, by this time owned the King. Mr. Bauer had extended unlimited credit to the King and arranged contracts with him, which permitted the Rothschild Tax Collectors to represent and collect the King’s tax from the King’s subjects. [This is the origin of the concept behind the establishment of the IRS]. It was Bauer who suggested to King George that he enforce a tax against the Colonists in the New World, since the tax being collected in England was barely enough to pay the interest on the King’s loans. When English soldiers refused to fight, Mr. Bauer negotiated a contract with unemployed Russian/Germanic soldiers to fight for King George at acost of 50¢ a day. Bauer then informed King George that he had hired these soldiers in the King’s name, but at a cost of $1.00 a day!
Mr Bauer is a fine example of bankers, which we lack today. 100% markup huh? Now then! Now then! we have seen facts to make the US govenment as a Corporate. Now next bit is unbelievable.

Documented proof that the Constitution was not for us can be found at Padelford,Fay & Co. v. The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah, [14 Georgia 438,520]. This was a Court case wherein the Plaintiffs sued the City of Savannah forviolating what they believed were their constitutionally-protected rights. The decision of the Judge says it all:
"No private p erson has a right to complain, by suit in Court, on the ground of a breach of the Constitution, theConstitution, it is true, is a compact but he [the private person] is not a party toit!" [Emphasis added]
The United States Constitution was converted into a Trust and the legal definition of a Trust is:
“A legal obligation with respect to property given by one person(donor), to another (trustee), to the advantage of a beneficiary (Americans).”
The property in this Trust includes all land, your personal possessions that you believe you own and your physical body. The donor of the Trust is the King of England and the Holy Roman Church. The Trustees are all federal and state public officials, which means that they truly are Agents of a foreign power: the King and the Vatican. The reason the Constitution was converted into a Trust is because, as a non-trust business plan, The Constitution completely bound the hands of our government officials. By their converting it into a Trust, our public officials were then free to make any changes they desired to this government without their constituents’ knowledge. The rules of a Trust are secret and no trustee can be compelled to divulge those rules; and the rules can be changed by the trustees without noticeto the beneficiary.

So US is governed by agents of living outsiders called the Einglish Royals and the Vatican. Now I can understand why this and why that in a more thinking of a slave. well go ahead and read this

Justice US Style

Claimed to be the most democratic country in the world and trying to democrstise the other countries who are deemed by US as undemocratic (hmmm...mostly arab/islamic countries)

There are US citizens who are not happy with their government passing ridiculus laws and not even looking at a president's criminal acts and acts against human rights.

I read a blog by David Swanson about Bush/Cheyney era of governance. It is very educational to a point and. as a person who is against war and cruelty to others, I always thought US and UK citizens will bring cases against Bush and Blair to bring them to justice. I myself has written to few UK MPs who were likely to be against Blair's decision to go to war. I was disappointed, when few of them had me entertained for a few months with an email saying they recieved the letter, and as they never replied. I can feel the frustration of D Swanson about the same matter in US.

Here is the start of the blog, but do go to his blog to read the rest.

Elizabeth Holtzman knows something about struggles for justice in the U.S. government. She was a member of Congress and of the House Judiciary Committee that voted for articles of impeachment against President Richard Nixon in 1973. She proposed the bill that in 1973 required that "state secrets" claims be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. She co-authored the special prosecutor law that was allowed to lapse, just in time for the George W. Bush crime wave, after Kenneth Starr made such a mockery of it during the Whitewater-cum-Lewinsky scandals. She was there for the creation of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in 1978. She has served on the Nazi War Crimes and Japanese Imperial Government Records Interagency Working Group, bringing long-escaped war criminals to justice. And she was an outspoken advocate for impeaching George W. Bush.

Holtzman's new book, coauthored with Cynthia Cooper, is called "Cheating Justice: How Bush and Cheney Attacked the Rule of Law and Plotted to Avoid Prosecution -- and What We Can Do About It." Holtzman begins by recalling how widespread and mainstream was the speculation at the end of the Bush nightmare that Bush would pardon himself and his underlings. The debate was over exactly how he would do it. And then he didn't do it at all.
Talking about justice in US where around 20% of the people are in prisons, I came across another of D Swansons blogs which made me get interested and I hope you too. Well it is about a new law passed while the US citizens were partying on NewYears Eve. It is quite a controvercial law. Chstian Post did an article thus. There were protestors from the "Occupy the Wallstreet", doing a protest in the Grand Central Station. Read all about it here.

Under the new law, the president of the United States can designate any individual, whether an American citizen, resident alien, or citizen of any other country, to be arrested and detained for life by the US military. The law defines a “covered person” in the following terms: “A person who was a part of or substantially supported al-Qaeda, the Taliban, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners, including any person who has committed a belligerent act or has directly supported such hostilities in aid of such enemy forces.”

No more demostration, as that itself is under the openess of the said law can be intrpreted by the military or po- lice, and arrest the demonstrators as terrorists. Not even peacful ones. Grrrr I can here someone.

Ah back from the ranting of moi, here is the first two paras of the said article by Mr Swanson

Good things do come out of the Virginia state legislature. That normally reprehensible body has just stood up to the federal outrage that has come to be known as the NDAA. The letters stand for the National Defense Authorization Act, but at issue here is not the bulk of that bill. Virginia's state government has no objection to dumping our grandchildren's unearned pay into the pockets of war profiteers while our schools lack funding. At issue is the presidential power to lock people up without a trial, which was slipped into the latest military funding bill late last year and signed into law by President Barack Obama on New Year's Eve. In fact, Virginia's legislature does not object to that abuse except in one particular circumstance, namely when the victim of it is a U.S. citizen. But in that circumstance, Virginia says Hell No.

Locally in Charlottesville, we rallied at Republican Congressman Robert Hurt's office.

Here is the rest.

Will Iran Conflit Go Bad In EU?

Further to my blog I gone fishing around the news world for more info.

Now I have another point of view about the EU countries who are on the verge of economic collapse. US and EU are putting pressure on Iran with economic sanctions. But if Iran cuts of oil to Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Ireland there will be a problem. Well If you are interested in this please go to this article in Centre for reserch in Globalization. Hi ho otherwise keep on reading and I will write the gist of it in my own way.

Ok first of all Iran is, unlike Zionist Israel and some others, a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency and a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), it has the right to acquire and develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. There is a question of how pure the uranium has to be, when required for peaceful purposes.

If you want to buy some 1000 µg/mL Uranium in 2% HNO3 18 month expiry date there are online traders to buy it Goto . This is no joke it is only $ 36 for 50 ml.

Exclusive:
American neocons have moved the United States closer to war with Iran via a subtle change in the “red line” phrasing, inserting the word “capability” after the usual threats to take out an Iranian “nuclear weapon.” Now, Sen. Joe Lieberman is making the shift official, reports Robert Parry. Sen. Joe Lieberman is leading a group of nearly one-third of the U.S. Senate urging that the red line on war with Iran be shifted from building a nuclear weapon to the vague notion of Iran having the “capability” to build one. The neoconservative senator from Connecticut has introduced a “Sense of the Senate” resolution that would put the body on record as rejecting a situation that arguably already exists, in which Iran has the know-how to build a bomb even if it has no intention to do so.

The resolution tracks with the positions of hardline Israeli leaders, such as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and undercuts the position of President Barack Obama, whose administration has been exploring ways to negotiate an agreement with Iran, which insists that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only..........

.........A Neocon Comeback

Since the grim writing was on the wall about the Iraq outcome, American neocons have been looking for new ways to get their imperial agenda back on track, with Iran’s nuclear program just the latest opportunity.

So, Iranian efforts to negotiate confidence-building initiatives regarding its nuclear program, such as agreeing to a Turkish-Brazilian plan in 2010 to trade about half of Iran’s low-enriched uranium for radioactive isotopes needed for medical research, have been blocked by neocons in Congress and their allies in the Obama administration, with the support of key U.S. media outlets, like the Washington Post and New York Times.

The latest shift toward forcing a new war has centered on the insertion of the word “capability” after the words “nuclear weapons.” The Obama administration has indicated that it would consider an Iranian decision to build a nuclear bomb a “red line,” suggesting the possibility of a military strike at that point.

However, that threat isn’t making the neocons happy because the U.S. intelligence community is standing by its 2007 conclusion that Iran halted work on a nuclear bomb in 2003 and hasn’t resumed that effort. Israeli intelligence apparently has reached the same judgment. Both U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak have referenced this state-of-play in the intelligence assessments in recent public remarks, as ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern has reported.

I myself always believed that almost all the developed countries have a very strong Zionist lobby . Most of our law makers in UK have gone to Israel on free rides and been bent towards the Zionist way. Specially Foreign Secretary W Hague (little Hitler) who wants to go, wage war and subjugate various Middle Eastern counntries to UK industries.

Exclusive:
Recent comments by U.S and Israeli military leaders indicate that the intelligence services of the two countries agree that Iran has not decided to build a nuclear bomb, a crack in the Western narrative that the U.S. press corps won’t accept, as ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern explains
So now the goal post has been moved.

According to a BBC article about Iranian time lines; until  June 2001, accusations against Iran was Terrorism, but in Sep 2001 it changed to aquiring nuclear weapons from Russia and China. Yes most probably after 11 of the 9 fiasco in US.

By sep 2002 Russia starts building a nuclear power station at Bushehr This causes almighty Iranbashing in US.

Dec 2002 US accuses Iran of building nuclear facilities in Natanz and Arak, which was inspected by IAEA  in Feb-May 2003, and declared to be plants to provide fuel for future power plants.

By Dec 2003 Iran agrees to suspend its nuclear fuel production but IAEA has reported that Iran has produced Plutonium but admits they are not interested in making weapons. US do not trust either IAEA or Iran.

By March 2004 the pressure is on with sanctions.

Sep 2004 Iran starts enriching Uranium.

Jan 2005 Euro big 3 wants to talk trade with Iran but insists that Iran should permaanantly stop uranium enrichment.

June 2005 Mahmoud Ahmadinejad becomes president of Iran.

2005 July - The US concludes that President Ahmadinejad was a leader of the group behind the 1979 hostage crisis at its embassy in Tehran, but says it is unsure whether he took an active part in taking Americans prisoner.

2005 August-September - Tehran says it has resumed uranium conversion at its Isfahan plant and insists the programme is for peaceful purposes. The IAEA finds Iran in violation of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

April 2006 Iran announces it has successfully enriched uranium - prompting Ms Rice to demand "strong steps" by the UN. An IAEA report concludes Iran has not complied with a Security Council demand that it suspend uranium enrichment.

Jan 2007 Mr Bush the Stupid goes on about that Iran is sending Al Quaeda to Iraq without knowing that Iran is Shia and Al Quaeda is Sunni. Ahem.

Oct 2007 Gen Ptreas calls H K Qomi a member of the Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards. Hmmm pot calling..... ga ga ggoo. US steps up sanctions.

Dec 2007 Us intelligence (still got some) says Iran's nuclear program is peaceful, but Bush do not agree.

Well that is the most important bits. there were lots more in the article but hmmm its tireing and boring.

So now they are going to have a chat, Iran and the big 5 +1 very soon and IAEA is going in for further issues to be ratified and B Netanyahu (the top terrorist) is gonna give a speech nay a lecture, at the AIPAC. Lets see what all this means.

OK US a meer weekling after the rule of Bush the Stupid, is going around talking to Asian countries to support the sanctions. But Asian big boys India and China, not forgeting Russia which really is Asian, are telling US go away. Even Israel exploded some of their own bombs in places like India, on their own people to get Asia to agree. Na da. On top of that South Korea and Japan has refused to agree. Now as the dollar is getting weaker the oil prices will rise. Put the oil embargo on 5 Euro countries by Iran will make it go higher. The Asamaidjan must be praising the lord huh?

Mahdi al-Harati of Tripoli Brigade

On 11 October 2011, al-Harati resigned as deputy head of the Tripoli Military Council, amid tensions over security on the capital. According to Irish Times, while al-Harati's associates in Tripoli assure that the resignation was for "personal reasons", a senior NTC official quoted by CNN said that the resignation was because "differences with the National Transitional Council on the planning of the security of Tripoli". Fathi al-Wersali, member of the Tripoli Military Council, stated that al-Harati would continue as commander of the Tripoli brigade

Claims Wikipedia about Mahdi al-Harati. Hmmm what the hell is he doing in Turkey? Is he helping the free Syria people?

Will the Greece Default bankcrupt Wall Street?

Comments well come!

I have been following the Greek economic status. I thought they might default by January and even took a bet with a mate and lost. Damn!

Now it seems to be Ok dokay. Question is how long will it last. The Policy makers and the government have been divided. People are divided. My experience with Greek people made me believe that they are not paying their taxes properly. Not verified with facts.

Recent articles suggests that, with some facts, by March they will default. Do you think I can take a bet go "double or quits" with my friend. I found this in an article in Yorkshire Post

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post during a visit to Leeds, Dr Stelzer said: “It’s only a matter of time before they (Greece) go bankrupt. They are bankrupt now, it’s only a question of how you recognise it and what you call it.

“Certainly they will default...maybe as early as March. If I were them I’d get out (of the euro). They would be in better shape if they had their own currency.”

He added: “If they (Greece) leave the euro, the euro would probably strengthen because it wouldn’t have this drag any more.”
And further in my reading I came across this term "Derivatives", and found out that the bet I took with my friend can be taken as a derivative. I am a financier ha ha.

So one asks what the heck this got to do with Greece huh? In a bit.

Now read this from:

According to the Comptroller of the Currency, nearly 95% of the banking industry’s total exposure to derivatives contracts is held by the nation’s five largest banks: JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Bank of America, HSBC, and Goldman Sachs. The CDS market is unregulated, and there is no requirement that the “insurer” actually have the funds to pay up. CDS are more like bets, and a massive loss at the casino could bring the house down.

I, mistyfied about all this wanted to find out more, and found an organisation called the International swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), which has as it's members major banks and hedge funds including above mentioned US banks. So one of the duties of this organisation is to determine whether a 'certain event' is actually a default. If a 'credit event' is at a default the CDS's come into play. So the very same banks who decide this are the same banks who own them. Bloody nice way to do one's business.

Now the interesting bit. There was a bank called MF Global who lent money to Greece and took CDS's with major banks in US. So when the ISDA declared that Greece is not at a default and made to take a 'hair cut' of 50 % , MF Global could not play the CDS's and went bankcrupt. So the very same banks who insure the lender, and take premiums, decide whether to pay or not. Greece went down with 50%, and ISDA decided it is not a default. What percentage makes it a default? No one can tell us. Hope Greece defauls and bring these blood suckers down!

article: and article helped me to reserch this. THere may be errors. If you find them please do comment.
