Label the remaining angles as shown in the figure below.
Since the sum of the measures of the interior angles of a triangle is 180°, it follows that a + 75 + 20 = 180. Thus, a = 85. Furthermore, vertical angles have the same measure, so z = a = 85. Then, from the triangle on the left, x + y + z = 180, or x + y = 180 – z. Since z = 85, it follows that x + y = 95.
